Desmond Garfield Francis (Lansing)

Mr. Desmond Garfield Francis passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 65 years. He was born June 13, 1954 in Kingston, Jamaica, the son of Alexander and Cecile Francis.

Desmond migrated to the United States at a young age. He lived in Lansing, Michigan with his mother and step-father, Joe Barkley, Sr. Desmond attended school in the Lansing School District. He graduated from Everett High School in 1973. After graduation, Desmond enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served a total of 17 years of service and earned several military awards. His family and friends thank him for his service.

Desmond leaves to cherish his memory his stepbrother, Joe (Charlene) Barkley, Jr., sister-in-law, Cheryl Brown; special niece, Sharon Brown-Oakley; special nephew, Norman Brown; aunts, Verlie Spencer and Jeroline Smith; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Francis; mother and stepfather, Cecile and Joe Barkley, Sr.; and 2 brothers.
