Mr. Destri LaVonze Santos, a former resident of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in Columbus, Ohio, where he resided. Age 49 years. He was born June 17, 1973, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Jamaica Hilliard and Freddie Brown.
Destri grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, where he attended Renaissance Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Nathaniel Calhoun. He was a graduate of Buena Vista High School, Class of 1991. Destri loved drawing, cooking, cracking jokes, laughing, spending time with family, and just enjoying life. He had a passion for cooking which led him to culinary school.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, My’King Horn, Deonta Barnes, and Destri LaVonze Santos Jr; three daughters, Atiyya Kemp Santos, Jela Von Santos, and Jeliese Lavon Santos, all of Saginaw, Michigan; one grandson, Michael Campbell, Saginaw, Michigan; father, Freddie Brown, and godfather, Larry Sparks; four sisters, Angie Hilliard, Delana Hilliard, and Charlotte Hilliard, all of Saginaw, and Terria MacWright, Jackson, Mississippi; eight brothers, Travoy Santos, Larry Santos, Edward Santos, Drew Santos, Devitri Santos, all of Saginaw, Gregory Zigler, Birmingham, Alabama, Andre Stevenson, Atlanta, Georgia, and Randy Cramel, Tuscaloosa, Alabama; thirteen nieces, twenty- seven nephews; four aunts; Doretha Newton, Birmingham, Alabama, Yolanda King, Saginaw, Michigan, Shonda (Bernard) Wilson, and Joyce Harris, of Rockford, Illinois; four uncles, Larry (Pat) Jones, Saginaw, Michigan, Cameron (Trevalyn) Santos, Bay City, Michigan, Orlandus Santos, and Edward Santos, Saginaw, Michigan; many cousins, other relatives and friends.
Destri was preceded in death by his mother, Jamaica Hilliard; stepfather, Drew Hilliard; daughter, Justine Santos; brother, Reggie Harris; grandmothers, Angie Santos, and Sarah Brown; grandfathers, Edward Santos, and Peter James Brown.
