Devon Gilbert

Mr. Devon Gilbert passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at his residence. He was born January 16, 1943 in Leflore County, Mississippi to Ollie Battle Gilbert Sr. and Dorothy Sparkman Gilbert.
Devon received his education in the Leflore County School System. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and served in the Vietnam War for two years. He relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1969 and began employment at Saginaw Metal Castings Plant. After 42 years of faithful service, he retired in April 2005. Devon was a member of Better Life Ministries under the leadership of Price Hopgood. He was a great provider, hard worker and dear friend to many. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Devona Gilbert, Develle Jones; two sons, Devon McCray, Jaime Sylvester; eight grandchildren, Chelsea Hall, Lakeisha McCray, Taqutia Patton, Akeiria Taylor, Devon McCray Jr., Devon Williams, Donzell Moore, Kaila Thomas; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Aretha Harris and Helena Williams, both of Indianapolis, Indiana; three brothers, Roger Gilbert, Bentonia, Mississippi, Ollie Gilbert Jr., Saginaw, Michigan, Arthur Gilbert, Beaumont, Texas; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Dorothy Gilbert; one brother, Charles Gilbert.
