Diana Cooper "Tookie"

Diana LaShawn Cooper “Tookie” passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the age of 50 years old. Diana was born on July 31, 1974, in Saginaw, MI to Larry D. Carethers and Georgia A. Simmons. 

Diana attended Ruben Daniels and Saginaw High School. She loved the word God and grew up going to church at Truevine Baptist Church. 

Diana was all about her boys, she loved having good times with her family and friends, singing and dancing. Diana had a heart of gold always willing to help others. She loved cooking, especially meals for the family. Diana loved Aubrey Pruitt unconditionally. 

Her memories will be cherished by her daughter Tenesha Cooper; four sons, Deshaun, and Jaylen Cooper, Andre Pruitt-Cooper, Ja’Tavion Pruitt-Cooper; four sisters, Selina Walker, Tarena Patterson, Shanelle and La’kiyla Carethers; nine brothers, Dion Cooper, Ryan Carethers, Larry Patterson, Jemario Bassett; Daniel, Romance, Larry, Neeko, and Kingdom Carethers; one grandson, William Harris IV; a host of nieces and nephews; special nephew, Reggie (Tamaya)Welch; many aunts and uncles, and special uncle, Cicero Davis; many cousins, including special cousins Demetria(DeeDee)Carethers, Keyanna Woods and Felicia Simmons of Ohio; godmother, Minnie Pearl-Reed, of New Orleans; four godchildren, Jarvara Murphy, Camisha(Mesh) Simpson, Taikena Jackson, and Curley Beavers Jr.; a host of friends, Tryvonna Jackson, Tawanna Ezell, Rebecca Trevino, Camisha Simpson, Tionno Washington, of Houston, TX, and Margaretta Merrill, of TN, including special friend Alicia Butler. 

The family would like to express a special thank you to her nurse Ashley Kilgore.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents Larry D. Carethers and Georgia A. Simmons, grandparents Gertrude Cooper, Buster(Annie) Carethers, sister Damarius Cooper, and two children, Melvin Price Jr; and Champayne Pruitt-Cooper. Diana was a very sweet kind-hearted woman she will be missed
