Dionicio (David) Ortega made his transition to Heaven on Friday, April 10, 2015. He was born September 3, 1940 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The son of Manuela and Nicholas Melendrez.
David was never seen without his wife Jovita by his side. He loved to be with his children and grandchildren. He loved God and his church family. David enjoyed wrestling and shopping at his favorite stores. He also enjoyed joking and going out to dinner with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jovita Ortega of Lansing, Michigan; three daughters, Melissa Ortega, Melita Ortega and Maria (Rene) Herrera; six sons, David (Karin) Ortega Jr., John Ortega Sr., Leroy (Sabrina) Ortega Sr., Ricky Ortega Sr. and Victor (Esperanza)Ortega Sr.; thirty-three grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Maria Coronado, Frances Lopez, Minnie Davalos and Betty Ortega; two brothers, Paul Melendrez and Felix Melendrez; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Vicente Alvarez.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Manuela and Nicholas Melendrez, one sister, Frances Lopez and one grand-daughter, Jovita C. Ortega.
