Mr. Don Steven Fabin was born on September 2, 1953, in Saginaw, Michigan to Alice Kingsland. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 4, 2024. Age 70 years.

Don was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on March 26, 1980, after serving 5 years as a Private First Class with the CSC 1/38 Infantry and receiving the Army Commendation Medal. As transcribed by the Army, ‘Don showed exceptionally commendable service as Tube-Launched, Optical Tracked, Wire Guided Missile Gunner and Assistant Armorer, Combat Support Company, 1st Battalion. Private Fabin displayed outstanding leadership ability and great versatility while performing any mission assigned to him. In his job as a Gunner, Private Fabin performed in an exemplary manner, resulting in him attaining the status of “expert” in all phases of the weapon’s operation.’

After exiting the Army, Don started working for General Motors, where he dedicated 35+ years of service before retiring. Most recently he was employed with Vango Transit, where he was able to forge lasting relationships with his co-workers and the customers he serviced.

Outside of spending time with his family, Don enjoyed grilling, watching movies, weightlifting, cycling, playing his guitar, listening to music, reading, working on cars and household projects. Don was an avid long-distance runner, often competing in various marathons. He was the epitome of “there for everyone,” often lending his services to help individuals in need, repairing home appliances for family, or offering rides when needed, among other things. He believed in helping people in every way he could.

Don married the love of his life, Bertha Fabin, on November 23, 1990. They enjoyed 33 years of marital bliss before she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Alice Kingsland.
