Dora Dean Shaw-Mcdole

Mrs. Dora Dean Shaw-McDole passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born on September 8, 1952, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Leslie and Annie Shaw.


Dora was a fierce and tenacious spirit eager to point out injustice. She loved to play softball and was an avid sports fan. She had a strong passion for education and loved to learn. Dora retired from AT&T after 35 years of service. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Dora graduated from Saginaw High School Class of 1970. She instilled pride in being Black in her daughter. She had an affinity for singing. Dora lived life on her terms and had a fierce commitment to her independence.


Dora leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Ayondela Shawnae McDole, Woodridge, Virginia; several cousins including a special cousin, Debra Austin, Saginaw, Michigan; many other relatives and friends; special friends, Dorothy and William Martin, Jackie and Tom Rembert, Pat Whitson, Cynthia Polk, Deborah Abdullah, and Gayle Boelke.


Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Annie Shaw; aunts, Mary Smith, Margaret Mackey, and Maggie Mackey; uncle, John Mackey, cousins, Rebecca Harvey, and Peaches, and Jerry Vaughn.
