Doris Ann (Klemish) Vogel

Doris Ann (Klemish) Vogel (88 years) passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 6, 2021 at Edgewood Assisted Living Center with her loving daughters by her side. She lived with her daughter Diane, for 26 months prior to moving into Edgewood.

Doris was born on September 20, 1932 in Saginaw to Oliver and Marie (Wegner) Klemish. She married Arthur William Vogel on October 4, 1952. They had 66 years of a happy and blessed marriage until Arthur’s death in 2019. Along with Art they owned and operated Vogel’s Garage and Sales in Saginaw for nearly 30 years. In 1980 they moved to Grayling and opened a tee shirt shop, Tees N’ Such R Us until retirement. You would always see Doris and Art together enjoying camping, boating, fishing, bike riding, snowmobiling, and sitting by the lake or campfire.

Doris also enjoyed cooking using recipes handed down from her mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Her grandmother’s sugar cookie recipe has become a family tradition every Christmas. Some of Doris’s other favorite dishes included potato salad, turkey dressing, rice and tapioca puddings.

Doris was an avid Detroit Tiger fan. As a girl her father took her to a Detroit Tiger ballgame where she became a fan for life. She would frequently reminisce how her dad and her listened to most of the games together on the radio. As an adult she would watch the games with her daughter Bonnie, while sharing a snack of popcorn or a hotdog and a pepsi.

Doris loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them swim, taking time playing badminton or croquet with them or baking their favorite treats together. Her great granddaughter, Sierra, gave her the nickname of “Grandma Great Great.”

She is survived by her loving children: Bonnie (Gordon Eden) Vogel, Grayling; David (Elizabeth Zuker) Vogel, Grayling; Diane (Rev. David) Howard, Saginaw. Grandchildren: Nikki (Jason) Trudeau, Rusty (Jean) Strohpaul, Andrea Vogel, Vanessa (Jeremy) Jurewicz, Sean (Kim) Vogel, Ryan (Sarah) Vogel, David II (Tania) Howard, Dr Brian (Lauren) Howard, Jessica (Paul) Milioto, step granddaughter Amanda Zuker; 13 great grandchildren; sister Jane Ross, brother Daniel Klemish; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, her parents, parents-in-law, sister Alice and brother Fred and infant brother Dale.
