Dorothy Mae Bingman was born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, December 20, 1938, to the late Eddie Malone and Gertrude Johnson. Her father, Eddie Malone, died at an early age, soon before Dorothy’s birth. She was raised by her stepfather, Oscar Ladd and mother, Gertrude Ladd. Having moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 11, Dorothy attended Tulsa Public Schools, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1958.
At a young age, Dorothy joined Metropolitan Baptist Church in Tulsa and was a faithful member, participating in the choir and other various activities. After graduating from high school, Dorothy married Richard Bingman, Jr., and to this union one child was born, Lloyd Glen Bingman. Before making Tulsa her permanent home, Dorothy and her son traveled to and lived in several cities and states to accompany her then husband, Richard Bingman, Jr., who was an active member of the United States Army. After making Tulsa her permanent home, she was later employed by Robert and Brenda Davis for 44 years. Dorothy was a member of the Daughters of Isis, located in Tulsa.
Dorothy was preceded in death by Eddie Malone (father), Gertrude Ladd (mother), Oscar Ladd (stepfather), Charlie and Madie Johnson (maternal grandparents), Myrtle P. Young (paternal grandmother), three sisters, Florida Mansker, Georgia Mae George, and Opal Behn; and two brothers, Fred Ladd and Steve Ladd, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dorothy’s love and memories will be cherished by her son, Lloyd Bingman (Teresa) Okemos, Michigan; two grandchildren, Adam Bingman, North Bethesda, Maryland, and Victoria Bingman, Okemos, Michigan. Three brothers, James Ladd, Charles Ladd (Joy), and Floyd Ladd; one sister, Cora Burks; one uncle, Jonas Johnson, St. Louis, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
