Dorothy Tate

April 16, 1950 — June 8, 2020

Mrs. Dorothy L. Carpenter-Tate was born April 16, 1950 in Arlington, Tennessee, the daughter of Robert Sr. and Eva (Scott) Carpenter. She returned home to her Heavenly Father on June 8, 2020 at the age of 70 years.

Dorothy was a member of Freedom Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Eddie Bragg. She retired from Covenant Healthcare as a Nutrition Specialist. She enjoyed working in her yard, walking and talking on the phone, especially with her sister Early Mae.

Dorothy enjoyed being around her family more than anything. She really enjoyed her family at Intrigue Beauty Salon. The best times of her life were the days spent with the love of her life, Andrew, and her boys James and Glyn. She always spoke highly of her children and how they kept a smile on her face. Dorothy was a classy woman with a heart of gold and a million-dollar smile. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Tate; parents, Robert Sr. and Eva Carpenter; sister, Alma Ector; twin granddaughters; many other loved ones.

She leaves precious memories with her two sons, Glyn Carpenter, James Jr. (Ursula) Wilson, both of Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, James Hines, Michigan, Ja’Quavious Snow, Saginaw, Michigan, Tanesha Peterson, Virginia, Glyn Carpenter, Jr., Saginaw, Michigan, Bernice Hooker, Louisiana, Tramell Jones, Ja’Miracli Wilson, Ja’haira Terry, all of Saginaw, Michigan; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Early Mae Adams, Saginaw, Michigan; three brothers, Robert Jr. (Darlean) Carpenter, John (Linda) Carpenter, James (Carolyn) Carpenter, all of Saginaw, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Yolonda Jones, Vanessa Stephens-Jones, Lee Thomas, Jerome Sangster and Matt Rodriguez.

The family would like to express special thanks to everyone who sent their love, prayers and condolences, doctors and Nurse Kristy on the 7th Floor at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
