Douglas Johnson Jr.

June 21, 1959 — February 29, 2024

Mr. Douglas Johnson Jr., faithful father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in Saginaw, Michigan, at the age of 64.

“Cookie,” as he was affectionately known by friends and family, was born to Douglas and Gloria “Tobae” Johnson (Dorn) in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on June 21, 1959. After graduating from Saginaw High School in 1978, he was employed at General Motors in Saginaw before eventually settling into an eventful life of fun, friends, family and travel.

A down-to-earth lover of people with an indomitable spirit, to know him was to love him. Anyone who spent time with Cookie knew that they were in the best of company. He was always fun to be around, full of laughter, and always ready to face life as an adventure. He enjoyed traveling, spending quality time with friends and family, cooking for loved ones, and working around the house and yard. Though we are all profoundly saddened by his loss, we take comfort in the fact that he always lived life to the fullest, and that he passed on to Heaven knowing that he was loved by all those around him. He will be truly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.

He leaves to cherish his beloved memory four children: Melody (André) Johnson, Douglas Johnson, Brittany (Jim) Wade, and Sasha (Kaleb) Richardson; nine grandchildren, Skye Curry, LaVelle Conerly, Andrea Thomas, Noemie Johnson, Douglas Johnson, Charles Richardson, Grace Richardson, Roman Richardson, and Kaleb Richardson; three great-grandchildren, Ahmiyah Lawson, Aaliyah Price, and Ayran Price; seven sisters, Faye Gillerson, Debra McKinley, Sharon (Richard) Smith, Jacqueline Johnson, Rita Johnson, Cassandra (Darryl) Moore, Tracy (John) Landry; four brothers, Jimmy Green, Joseph Brown, Fredrick Earl Johnson, and Stacy Johnson; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends, Naomi Brazil, Shawn Castell, Tracy Rivers, and Apral Williams.

He was preceded in Heaven by his parents, Douglas and Gloria Johnson; nephew, Chris Marshall; niece, Simone Gochett; and brother, Rickey Williams.
