Dwight Moore Brown was born November 23, 1956 in Marion, Arkansas, the son of Mrs. Florence Brown and Mr. James Moore.
Dwight was raised and schooled in Marion, Arkansas. He was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Marion, Arkansas. He graduated from Marion High School in 1975. He then relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1978, where he resided until his death on October 11, 2019.
Dwight was formerly employed with the Veterans Administration Hospital Pharmacy Department for several years and the Dow Event Center for over thirty years. He was a great painter, assembler of furniture and other things. He had many talents and was always willing to help. Dwight was a very loving son, father and brother who loved his family dearly.
Dwight was preceded in death by his father, James Moore; sister, Mae Frances Brown-Hayes; grandfather, Booker T. Washington, Sr.; nephews, Preston and Kenneth Ray Brown; uncles, Jimmy Sanders, Johnny B. Willis, Booker T. Washington, Jr., Aaron and Nathaniel Washington; great-uncles, John, Lee Andrew, Willie B. Sanders; great-aunt, Nettie Sanders-Sutton; devoted friend, Reuben Whitson.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Maria (Demetrius) McCracklin, Dallas, Texas; one son, Jumal Palmer, West Memphis, Arkansas; mother, Florence Brown, Marion, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Taylor McCracklin, Dallas, Texas, Marquez, Jumal Jr., Amyah, Brianna Palmer, DeMarcus Williams, Jakyya Clay, Aniyaha Tabb, Xavier Joubert, all of West Memphis, Arkansas; four sisters, Rosie Lee Jones, Horn Lake, Mississippi, Norma Jean (Richard) Hollmon, Memphis, Tennessee, Mary Ann Stewart, Detroit, Michigan, Renee (Charlie) Saunders, Marion, Arkansas; two brothers, Huey (Linda Faye) Brown, Kansas City, Kansas, Melvin (Jeanette) Brown, Shreveport, Louisiana; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews who loved their uncle dearly; one devoted and caring aunt, Dorothy Bowman, Saginaw, Michigan; one uncle, Arthur Washington, Chicago, Illinois; loving and devoted cousins, Betty “Lady” Sanders; many cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Frazier and Katie Townsend, Willie Lee, and Dwight’s extended family, the Whitsons.
The family would like to express special thanks to the proprietor of 23rd Street Market in Saginaw, Saginaw EMS Rescue Team, Dr. Marvin T. Smith and the Mt. Olive Church for a being a beacon of light in Dwight’s life, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
