Mrs. Earnestine Wilburn (Tina Baby) of Carrollton Township passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper with her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren by her side. Age 71 years. She was born on March 18, 1939 in Covington, TN to Lurenda Smith and David Strange.
Earnestine came to Saginaw at a young age, where she met and married Buriel J. Wilburn and to that union eight children were born. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James Worthy. Later she converted to the South 17th Street Church of Christ under the leadership of Brother Robert Wiggins and later to the Kiesel Road Church of Christ in Bay City, Michigan under the leadership of Brother Vincent Coccaro.
She was employed by the School District of the City of Saginaw for 23 years and worked at Saginaw High School until her health began to fail. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, spending time with her grandchildren and watching westerns. Earnestine was a mother to many always opening her home to those in need.
She leaves to cherish her memory eight children, Jerry (Annie Pearl) Wilburn, Terry (Genevieve) Wilburn, Katherine Wilburn all of Saginaw, Dorothy Wilburn of Covington, TN, Perry Wilburn, Donald Wilburn, Victoria Wilburn, Trundrina Wilburn all of Saginaw; step-daughter, Myrtle Pittman of Saginaw; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; special nieces, Denise Wilburn, Patricia Wilburn, Jacquline Wilburn; special cousins, Esther Marie Jones, Phillip Whitley, Karen Cope, many other relatives and friends including special friends, Amelia Genwright, Cleo Henderson, Priscilla Carter, Lena Hart, Grace Henderson, and Mammie Jones.
Earnestine was preceded in death by her husband, Buriel James Wilburn; father, David Strange; mother, Lurenda Macklin; step-father, R.C. Macklin; special aunt Victoria Smith.
