Eartha Jones

Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Eartha Mae Jones went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Age 85 years. She was born December 8, 1928 in Camden, Arkansas to Samuel Johnson Sr. and Francis Johnson.
Eartha was an active member of Greater New Fellowship Church of God in Christ for many years. She later joined New Faith Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Charles Coleman. Eartha worked for many years as a Direct Care worker and was a devoted Foster Parent to several children. She enjoyed fishing, making quilts, cooking and most of all, spending time with her family. Her presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory six children, Alma Samuels, Evelyn Ramsey, Wilma Box, Margaret (Cornell) Jones and Raymond Box, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Lee Earl (Annette) Box of Columbia, South Carolina; one step-daughter, Gloria (Frank) Jackson of Detroit, Michigan; twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Addie Box of Stephens, Arkansas, Lois Abner of Saginaw, Michigan, Mary Todd of Chicago, Illinois and Ruth Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends including two special friends, Vivian Carr and Gentry Smith Sr.
Eartha was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Francis Johnson, one daughter, Lurine Brown, one sister and seven brothers.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Covenant Healthcare-Cooper, Visiting Nurses Association and the Saginaw County Commission on Aging.
