Eddie Hoskins (Lansing)

October 29, 1951 — December 19, 2020

Mr. Eddie Hoskins made his transition from this life on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing Campus in Lansing, Michigan. Age 69 years. He was born October 29, 1951 to Pink and Lottie Hoskins in Shelby, Mississippi.

Eddie attended Quitman County High School in Marks, Mississippi. His sister, Emma Hoskins Glover, says that Eddie was a good baby and his parents made the older children responsible for him getting on the bus when they were in school in Mississippi. Eddie would walk so slow they had to make sure he would get on the bus on time. Eddie says his sister, Emma, gave him his last whipping (whoopin). He followed his older brothers and sister to Lansing, Michigan, where he attended Lansing Eastern High School. Eddie had his own ideas about things though. Although he was the youngest boy, Eddie felt like he was as old as his older brothers and sister and would want to follow them around wherever they went. Eddie had an independent spirit and actually left high school to take a bus to Washington, D.C. to protest for civil rights, carrying on the tradition of his mother, who was a card-carrying member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He was employed at General Motors for some year. He always liked nice clothes and nice, big cars. Eddie also like to have fun; he made up nicknames for people and names for the activities they were involved in. Eddie became a member of Pennway Church of God over 10 years ago and attended faithfully until he was unable to due to his health. If you were privileged to know Eddie Hoskins, you know he will surely be missed.

Eddie leaves to cherish his memory his 5 sisters, Emma (Mack) Glover, Helen Hoskins, and Amanda Ussery all of Lansing, Michigan, Lela (Kermit) Stanton and Loretta (Everett) Seaton of Shelby, Mississippi; 2 brothers, Robert (Adrienne) Hoskins and Lewis (Gloria) Hoskins of Lansing, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends in Lansing, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary Alice Hoskins and Mary Ann Cain; brothers, Pinkie Hoskins and J.C. Hoskins.
