Eddie Lee Donald, Sr.

April 9, 1932 — June 16, 2019

Mr. Eddie Lee Donald, Sr. was born April 9, 1932 in Jackson, Tennessee to Howard and Bertha Donald. He completed his journey on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at the age of 87 years.

Ed was a farmer as a young man. In 1962, he left the south and moved to Saginaw, Michigan with his wife and children for a better life. He found work with the General Motors Corporation Grey Iron Foundry, where he worked from 1963 to 1989. He was a member of UAW Local 668. After 26 years of dedicated service, Ed retired from his labor.

Ed’s hobbies included hunting wildlife, fishing and the lottery. He married Florence Morton, the mother of his children; they were together for nineteen years and remained friends until her death in 1996. He later married Delores Parrish, a longtime friend from St. Louis, Missouri; they were happily in love until her passing on April 9, 2005.

Ed was a loving father, adoring grandfather, protective brother, fun uncle and loyal friend. He was a family man that set a strong example for his children and grandchildren. He will forever be remembered, loved and cherish.

Eddie was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Bertha Donald; one daughter, Edith Donald; one son, Eddie Lee Donald, Jr.; three sisters; five brothers.

He leaves precious memories with his five children, Mary (Hubert) Pickett, Paul Donald, Sr., Beverly Tatum, Michigan, Mercer Davis, Wisconsin, Kim Donald, Sr., Tennessee; nine stepchildren, Lamont Parrish, Beverly Roberts, Wisconsin, Shawneequal Williams, Tracey Glasco, Ronald Pierce, Carla McGill, Christy Parris, Sharon Paine, Missouri, Dennis Garner, Tennessee; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Ann) Donald, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Betty Donald, Mary Lee Donald, Annette Donald; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to everyone who has been close to the family, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
