Edward Holbert (Lansing)

October 1, 1957 — November 9, 2017

Edward Charles Holbert of Lansing, Michigan, was born October 1, 1957 in Hermondale, Missouri. He was the sixth of eight children born to Charlie Robinson and Dorothy J. Holbert

He attended St. Paul Elementary School in Hermondale, Missouri. In 1968 the family moved to Lansing, Michigan, where Edward attended Gardner Middle School and Eastern High School.

In 1970, Edward gave his life to Christ under the leadership of Reverend Rosa Lee Porter of St. Matthew A.M.E. Church and became an ordained minister for Christ in the early 1980’s.
Not long after Pastor Rosa Lee Porter passed in1988, he joined Life Changers Church under pastor Rev. Dr. James Pierce and in 2014 became a member of Life Everlasting Ministries under Pastor Rev. Jose Young. There he remained until his sunset.

Edward was a custodial engineer until he lost his sight to diabetes complications in 2012. His dream was to have his own retail business, but after he lost his sight his dream became a hobby. He collected men and women cologne, sunglasses, women purses, jewelry and all kinds of things that made other people happy. Whenever family or friends would come by to visit they would most often leave with a new pair of earrings, cologne or a pair of sunglasses.

Edward was a gracious, loving, caring person that would do what he could for you without expecting anything in return. He was a God loving, spirit filled person who loved life, his family and friends.

Edward leaves to cherish his memory mother, Dorothy Holbert, six sisters, Louise Holbert, Lansing, Michigan, Johnnie Pearl Rodgers, Blytheville, Arkansas, Anita Emery, Kansas City, Missouri, Evelyn Robinson, Steel, Missouri, Gloria Boyd, Steel, Missouri and Betty Brisco, Lansing, Michigan; three brothers, Oliver Orr and David Holbert, Lansing, Michigan and Marvin Robinson, Kansas City, Missouri; eight nieces, Sharon Holbert, Lansing, Michigan, Denise Webb, Tennessee, Ashley Johnson, Rickesha Dabney, Lisa Soto all of Lansing, Michigan, Sky Patrick, Delana Orr and Tracy Orr all of Kansas City, Missouri; nephews, De’Ondray Holbert, Lansing, Michigan, Markus Holbert, Tennessee, Ricardo Dabney, Lansing, Michigan, Jorden Early, Illinois, Christopher Orr, Christopher Dabney, Lansing, Michigan and Aaron Orr, Kansas City, Missouri; aunts, Hattie Crenshaw, Blytheville, Arkansas, Alberta Fuller, Memphis Tennessee Christine Watts, South Bend, Indiana, Joanne Moore, Phoenix, Arizona and Linda Williams, St. Louis, Missouri; grandnieces, Erika Singleton, Kasey Holbert, Kyrsten Holbert and Jasmin Saxon; many other special cousins, relatives and friends.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)
