Ms. Effie Lee Conway was born November 14, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of George Conway, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Sibley. She passed away Monday, April 29, 2019. Age 57 years.
Effie attended Saginaw Public Schools during her adolescent years. She was a member of New Beginning Life Changing Ministry under Pastor Otis Dickens. Ms. Conway served on the Usher Board until she was no longer able due to health reasons. Even in the midst of her health issues, she never lost her hope and she never lost her faith.
Effie enjoyed traveling, cooking for family and friends on holidays, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. You could always catch her watching old western movies and going to church. She loved shopping and dressing up and was always stylish. She was the rock of her family and was looked up to by everyone.
Effie was preceded in death by her father, George Conway, Sr.; mother, Dorothy Mae Sibley; brothers, David and Andy Conway; aunts, Effie, Buelah Mae and Precious Sibley.
She leaves lasting memories with her husband, Larry M. Galvin; daughter, LaShanya (Edgar) Conway-Hoskins; sons, Marcus and Paris Conway; stepchildren, Cory Smith, Larry Smith, Demetrius Johnson; grandchildren, Marcus, Paris III, Maiya, Deparrion, Ki’Nariha, E’Shon, Peyton, Passion; one sister, Lovie Conway; brothers, Alfred, Derrick, George, Calvin Conway; aunt, Lovie; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special niece, Monique Conway, special nephews, Tory Conway, Travell Hillman; special cousins, Nancy Powell, Janie Davis, Serena Wilson and best friend, Sandra McIntosh.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Powell and Galvin Families, all of Effie’s cousins and friends who were by her bedside, Pastor Taurus Simpson and the Daniel’s Den Ministries Church Family, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
