May 7, 1952 — May 10, 2021

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
- Ecclesiastes 3 (NIV)

A time to die…

On Monday, May 10, 2021 at 1:35 AM, she answered the Lord’s call from Labor to reward at the St. Joseph Hospital – Downtown in Houston, Texas.

A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted…

At a young age, she relocated to the Flint, Michigan area and was educated in the Beecher Public Schools. She professed a hope in Christ and became a member of the Greater Holy Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Roger L. Jones, Sr. where she was licensed as an Evangelist. She also sang in the Inspirational Voices of GHT and was active in the Singles Ministry. She later moved her membership to the House of Prayer Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart where she was an active member, serving as an Elder and she was instrumental in the Christian Education Department, teaching Sunday School. In the community, Elder Cheeks sang with Kenneth Martin and Voices in Praise, worked on several democratic elections and was an Active Member of the NAACP. Upon relocating to Tuscaloosa, Alabama she became the Adjutant Sister to Bishop Earnest L. Palmer
