Elder Quinton Mcmurren

August 2, 1928 — March 10, 2010

Elder Quinton McMurren was born August 2, 1928 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to Grant Blanchard and Gladys Jennings-McMurren. He came to Saginaw in 1953 and later joined the Greater New Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Superintendent B. E. Price, where he became an ordained Elder and served as Youth Pastor. Later he joined Greater Williams Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Bishop H. J. Williams. Quinton served as an Associate Elder and was an active member of the C.O.G.I.C. Ministerial Alliance until his health failed.
Quinton was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Military Police. Quinton was joined in matrimony to Loddree Clark on July 6, 1981. He worked at the Neighborhood House as a drill team leader, boxing coach and activity coordinator. He retired in August 1991 from the Saginaw Board of Education as head custodian at Salina Elementary School. Quinton was an avid fisherman and cherished the time he spent praying and ministering to others over the years.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Loddree Clark-McMurren; four daughters, Gloria (Billy Ray) Scarborough of Madison, AR, Mary (David) Buck, Marcella Lindsey, Diabenese Campbell, all of Saginaw, MI; eight sons, Quinton (Annie) McMurren Jr. of Elizabeth City NC, Quinton Hamilton of Jacksonville, AR, Tyrone (Alisha) Cooper of Flint, MI, Earl Cooper of Saginaw, MI, Noel (Patricia) Cooper, Antjuan (Martina) Cooper both of St. Louis, MO, Sterling (Melissa) Robinson of Ann Arbor, MI, Mitchell McMurren of Detroit, MI; forty-one grandchildren, fifty-five great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; one brother Abbie (Geneva) McMurren of Elizabeth City, NC, three sisters-in-law, Annie Harris of Tucson, AZ, Bernice Spears of Selma, AL, and Mattie Moore of Saginaw, MI; Godchildren; Charlene, Carmen, and Candice Carlisle.
He was predeceased by his parents, daughter, Vanzola Spence, mother-in-law, Mary B. Howell and brother-in-law, Elder Glenzo Moore. The family would like to express special thanks to Stevenson and the staff of Heartland of Bridgeport, MI, Dr. Hussain, Bishop H. J. Williams and the Church family, many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends too numerous to name. Special friends, Elder James Weston, Deacon Johnny Johnson, Milo (fishing Buddy) and Mr. & Mrs. James Holmes and family.
