Mrs. Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson transitioned from this earthly life to life eternal on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Toni & Trish House in Auburn, Michigan. Age 81 years. She was born October 13, 1936 in McComb, Mississippi to Renis D. Davis and Lillie Dee Adams.
Elizabeth was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan, moving to Saginaw from Mississippi in 1965. She continued her education, earning her high school diploma from St. Joseph High School in 1976. She was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church for many years under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Reverend Dr. Roosevelt Austin, and Pastor Rodrick A. Smith. Liz served in a number of ministries including Mother’s Ministry, Mass Choir, Gospel Chorus, Women’s Prayer & Praise, and Skipworth/Murphy Circle. She was an active church member until her health began to fail in September, 2017. Liz loved to cook, and was famous for her collard greens, cornbread dressing, poke salad and wild greens. She will be truly missed by family and friends who loved her dearly.
She leaves to cherish loving memories three sons, Meredith, Julian and Darien Davis all of Saginaw, Michigan; one grandson, Darien A. Davis, one great-granddaughter, Alexis Michelle Davis, both of Jacksonville, Florida; four sisters, Brenda (Ernest) Bullock, Summit, Mississippi, Linda (William) Ross, Brunswick, Georgia, Joyce Davis Peterson and Lois Davis Johnson, Chicago, Illinois; four brothers, Thomas Adams, Hattiesburg Mississippi, Spencer Adams, Saginaw, Michigan, Christopher (Linda) Adams, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Brady Adams, Coleman, Florida; many cousins, nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Ellis Adams and Shirley Adams; sister/friend, Opal Coleman; special friends Connie Wingard, Horace and Sandra Curry, Kevin and Ann Bryant.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Renis D. Davis and Lillie Dee Adams, three brothers, Bernard, Bernell and Calvin Adams.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff at St. Mary’s of Michigan-Saginaw and Toni & Trish House.
