Elnora Norris

Elnora Norris of Lansing, Michigan passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at St. Lawrence- Sparrow Specialty Hospital. Age 91 years. She was born March 26, 1921 in Helena, Arkansas to Will and Rachel Cunnigan.
Elnora married A.W. Norris and to this union eleven children were born. Elnora loved her family and she also loved gardening, canning and often made special treats for the family like "cha-cha", pickles and various types of preserves. She was also talented in sewing and would often make beautiful clothes for her children. Elnora was a faithful women of God and accepted the Lord at High Tower Church of God In Christ in Luxora, Arkansas in the early 1950's.
After moving to Lansing, Michigan with her family in 1969, Elnora attended Samaria Church of God In Christ. She then attended the Maple Street Church under the leadership of Pastor Fretts where she remained a member until 1980, when she became a faithful member and church mother of Lansing Christian Church, under the leadership of Pastors Howard and Leora Davenport.
Elnora leaves to cherish her memories one brother, Roosevelt (Clara) Cunnigan, St. Louis, Missouri; one son, Jimmy L. (Ruby) Norris; three daughters, Rosetta (James "Smokey") Ishmel, Leora (Howard) Davenport, Loretta Norris, all of Lansing, Michigan; twenty one grandchildren, Marian, Terry, Regena, L.C., S.Marie, Priscilla, Howard Jr., Kenny, Mark, Tamia, Tamya, Arthur Jr., Mark, Kim, Carolyn, Linda, Ebony, Brandon, Quincy Jr., Alando, Michelle, Lajeanna; thirty nine great- grandchildren; seven great- great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Elnora was preceded in death by her husband, A.W. Norris, three sisters, Inez Larry, Leora Ellis, Mae Ella, two brothers, Jeff Cunnigan, Elijah Cunnigan, seven children, Willie Mae King, Arthur Norris Jr., Johnny L. Norris, George E. Norris, Henry L. Norris, Rosie L. Norris, Calvin E. Norris.
