Elnora Weathers

March 12, 1924 — January 11, 2014

Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and godmother, Elnora Weathers "Jordan" went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the age of 89 years. She was born March 12, 1924 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Horace and Melissa Weathers.
Elnora was the ninth of ten siblings whom are all deceased leaving her the last of the second generation of Weathers to leave our earthly home. She was a member of Corinthian Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Roy Manning. Aunt Nora loved her pastor, 1st lady and the Corinthian Baptist Church family. Aunt Nora was a dedicated member and she worked faithfully in the church she loved. She was a woman of many talents. She loved to draw, sew, sing and shop at thrift stores. Aunt Nora was known for her many different hats. She loved the residents and staff at Pinewood Manor as though they were her family. We will truly miss our aunt Nora.
She leaves to cherish her memory one grand-daughter, Renee Dykes of Detroit, Michigan; four great-grandchildren; eight 3rd generation nieces, Rutha ( Bruce) McGlory and Yvonne Weathers, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Catherine (Columbus) Clayton of Lansing, Michigan, John-Eltha and Mae Francis of Mississippi, Doris Mays of Detroit, Michigan, Melissa of Gulfport, Mississippi and Annie Mae of Chicago, Illinois; eleven 3rd generation nephews, Johnny (Ella) Mays of Detroit, Michigan,Willett (Lolita) of Chicago, Illinois, Horace (Anita) of Huntsville, Alabama, Deon of Atlanta, Georgia, Arthur (Judy), Ira Jr., Isaac (Sherry), Isaiah (Collette), Jerome (Dawn), all of Saginaw, Michigan, Milton (Jennifer) of Detroit, Michigan and James Mays of Florida; aunt Nora has several 4th, 5th and 6th generation nieces and nephews all over the world; many other relatives and friends including special friends Pastor Roy Manning and First Lady and the Corinthian Baptist Church family.
Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Melissa Weathers, son, Willie Dykes, her siblings, Harrison, Arthur, Theodore, Willett, Alonzo, Lem and Ira Weathers, Beaulah Dykes and Alberta Mays, dear sister-in-law whom she considered as a sister, Marie Weathers.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff and residents of Pinewood Manor her caregiver, Rosalind, Pastor and First Lady Manning, the Corinthian Baptist Church family, her nieces, Ruth and Catherine and the many friends and family who traveled to see aunt Nora and called her on the phone.
