Elroy Dirk Thomas was the 9th child born to L.V. and Teva Thomas Dunlap on October 24, 1967 in Greenwood, Mississippi. Elroy is being honored as a son, father, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. He put up a strong fight before deciding to go home to be with the Lord to rest in peace on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, New York.
His family moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1970 where Elroy was a lifelong resident. He enjoyed basketball, football and singing. Elroy was an excellent cook and was well known in Saginaw as the Dancing Machine.
In life Elroy married Tonya Thomas where they added four beautiful children to thier union. Leaving to cherish his Everlasting Memories are his children Kierra, Son-Tee, Jadia, Laila, Takaila, Elroy Jr.; stepson, Quinton McMurren; his beautiful mother, Teva Dunlap; four sisters, Dorothy (Aaron) Hopkins, Jacksonville, Florida, Lynette (Curlee) Ruth, Saginaw, Michigan, Teva Brown, Flint, Michigan, KaTina Thomas, Lexington, Kentucky; two brothers, Royal (Tammy) and Dwight Pollard; a very very special friend, Nichole Simons; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, L.V. Thomas; his paternal and maternal grandparents; brothers, Robert Pollard, J.W. Pollard, L.V. Pollard; nephew, Kunta Pollard.
The family would like to express special thanks to Nichole Simons for caring for him and staying by his side until he decided to rest. Angie Way for all the care and attention she provided in this time of illness, David Cook, MD PC, the staff of Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology of Bay City.
