Ms. Elsie June Bartels passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at her residence. Age 86 years. She was born March 8, 1928 in Saginaw, Michigan to Mary and Morris Egeler.
Elsie was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She received her GED from Ruben Daniel Lifelong Learning Center. Elsie was an employee of Vlassic Foods in the 1980s. She enjoyed garage sales and spending time with friends and family. Elsie was an avid NASCAR fan and loved the Detroit Tigers. You can always find her enjoying her favorite TV shows such as In the kitchen with David and Judge Judy. Her presence will be truly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, Penny (Jerry) Thomas, Linda Ahleman, Patricia (Tom) DeVeaux, Candy (Dick) Illikman and Marsha Langford; one son, Robert Bartels; grandchildren, Jeff (Carey) Rosas, Jennifer (David) Goretcki, William Bartels, David (Lisa) Ahleman, Pam Miller, Crystal Bartels, Gretchen (Jason) Hinton, Cheryl (Chris) McDonald, Christine (James) Petitt, Dan and Donald Langford; twenty great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred (Nancy) Egeler and Robert (Lois) Egeler; many other relatives and friends including her special dogs, Sammie, Tigger and Lucky Dog.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Peter W. Bartels Jr., one son, Peter Bartels, parents, Morris and Mary Egeler, grandparents, Kathleen and Charles Egeler, one great-grandson, William Pete Bartels, two sons-in-law, James Ahleman and Joel Rosas.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Hospice of Saginaw, Dr. Ruth Licht, her caregivers, Patricia Rios and Tameeka Paige.
