Elze D. Harris was born April 30, 1933 in Luverne, Alabama to Rubin and Curtis Harris. The family would later relocate to Montgomery, Alabama. Elze was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the blessed age of 86 years in Lansing, Michigan.
Elze was a generous and quiet man who loved to sit in his garage and watch life. Often many of his friends and neighbors would stop by to visit. Elze exuberated pride in everything he did. His lawn was the envy of the neighborhood. His cars were always well maintained, and he was the sharpest dresser this side of the Mississippi! Elze owned enough suits with matching shoes, ties, shirts, and hats to wear a different one every day for a year without repeating.
Elze united with Addie Peterson in Holy Matrimony on the eve of our Savior’s birth in 1955. To this union, 4 children were born. In 1965, Elze, Addie and family again relocated to Lansing, Michigan. In Lansing, they joined Union Missionary Baptist Church becoming part of the proud Union Baptist Christian family. Elze was employed by the General Motors Corporation. He retired after 27 years of dedicated service.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories 3 children, Willie Charles Harris of North Carolina, Denise Rodgers, and Christopher (Lana) Harris both of Lansing, Michigan; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Elze was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy; siblings, Rubin, Mirtis, twin sisters, Lela Merle and Lura Merle.
