Mr. Emerson Lee “Train” Owens was born April 25, 1955 in Henry, Tennessee to William and Mary Odessa Owens. He took his final flight on September 11, 2019 at the VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan.
Emerson came to Saginaw in 1960 at the age of five years. He attended Saginaw Public Schools, then later joined the United States Army after graduation. He received an honorable discharge for his service. He then worked at Black Forest restaurant in Frankenmuth, Malleable Iron Plant, and Sullivan’s for over thirty years.
Emerson was a hard worker and a family man. He loved his family and enjoyed spending quality time with them. He shared a close bond with all his siblings and enjoyed the company of his grandchildren. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Emerson was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Owens; brothers, George Owens, Robert Milton; sister, Melissa Owens; three nephews; two nieces; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Melisha Spahr, Maryland; seven stepchildren; three brothers, Robert, Ronald (Geraldine) Owens, Saginaw, Michigan, William Ray (Jennifer) Owens, Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sisters, Virgie Sue (Gene) Billings, Saginaw, Michigan, Carolyn Owens, Maryland; uncle, Robert Dunlap, Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-law, Ruby Lee Owens, Henry, Tennessee; special grandson, Perry Lee Owens, Jr.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including best friends Marvin Fenn, Larry Beasley and Susie Porter.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan, the 7th Floor nursing staff at Covenant Harrison Hospital, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
