Ernest Murphy

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, Mr. Ernest Murphy, made his transition on Monday, December 3, 2012 with his family by his side. He was born October 26, 1927 in Riverview, Alabama to John Ernest and Rebecca Murphy.
Ernest confessed Christ as his personal Savior and joined Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend William McCottery. He retired in 1986 after many years of faithful service from General Motors of Bay City and was a member of UAW Local 362. Ernest loved fishing, boating and riding his bike.
He leaves to mourn his passing a loving and caring wife of 57 years, Leotha Andrews-Murphy; one son, Carl (Becky) Murphy; one daughter, Valarie Murphy Brown; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Hattie Sisson; one nephew, Johnny (Barbara) Murphy; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Tinsley, Cleotha (James) Tinsley, Phyllis Andrews, Violet (Curtis) Bland, Michelle (Ken) Rose; three god-children, Tony, Katrina and Kami; a special niece, Sharalee (Fred) Hammond; a special great-granddaughter and the apple of his eye, Dayna Surles; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Turman Johnson and Bobbie Dawson.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rebecca Murphy; one brother, Willie Murphy; mother and father-in-law, John T. and Mary Andrews.
