Ernestine Williams (Lansing)

Mrs. Ernestine Williams passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, at McLaren Greater Lansing in Lansing, Michigan. Age 82 years. She was born on September 23, 1940, in Enterprise, Alabama to Ernest and Nancy Thompson. She was the second oldest child of eleven children.


She received the Lord and Savior as her personal Savior at an early age. She attended school in Enterprise and later moved to Lansing, Michigan. Ernestine was a “Jack of all trades.” She sewed, cooked and cleaned. Some of her greatest accomplishments were being a fantastic wife and mother and being a Domestic Engineer to Dr. Eva Evans, and Dr. Charles Tucker. She was united in Holy Matrimony to John A. Williams, Sr. and together they raised four beautiful children. She was one of the original organizers of Shiloah Missionary Baptist Church and had a significant impact on Spiritual growth within the church. She sang in the choir and was the choir president and Sunday school teacher.


She leaves to cherish her memory her oldest daughter, Melissa Andrews (Lonnie Marshall) and youngest son John Antie Williams Jr (Carolyn Taylor Williams); Regina Andrews, Bruce Bell (Myrtis), Suzie Shanklin; grandchildren, Charles Andrews Jr. (TaKara), Amber Warren, Reginald (Nichole) Andrews, and Khadeja Andrews; godchildren, Lenette Engram of Alabama, Lakeesha Perkins of Lansing, Lachina Harris of Lansing and Roosevelt (Yolanda) Bell of Benton Harbor; sisters, Georgina Overholtz, Mary Frances Carlisle, Martha Hunter, Linda Thompson, and Eva Jones; brothers, Willie Thompson and Ernest Thompson, Jr.; many nieces, nephews, uncle, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, A. Faye Curtis, Jean Rankins, Jeff and Claudia Hudson and Evelyn Castro.


She was proceeded in death by her Loving Husband of 48 years, John Antie Williams Sr.; youngest daughter, Johnie Angela Andrews; oldest son, Charles Earl Andrews; parents, Ernest and Nancy Thompson; brothers, Richard and Riley Thompson; sister, Amanda Putnam; several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
