Ethel Williams (Lansing)

April 7, 1937 — February 19, 2024

Ms. Ethel Lee Williams of Lansing, Michigan returned home to glory on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the age of 86 years old. Ethel was born Wednesday, April 7, 1937, and raised in Lansing, Michigan to her parents, Reuben and Mozelle Walker after the family relocated from Athens, Georgia.


Ethel attended school in Lansing, Michigan where she exhibited aptitudes in mathematics and sports. In her youth, she excelled in softball and was a member of a Lansing Area Championship Women’s team.


Ethel worked for many years as a nurse at St. Lawrence Hospital and as a Transportation Specialist with Dean Transportation where she cultivated and fostered strong relationships with a vast number of special needs children and their families. Ethel also worked tirelessly as a caretaker and daycare provider for family, friends and loved ones.


Ethel devoted her entire life to Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of the Mt. Zion Church, now Mt. Zion All Nations Bible Church, where she served with joy and steadfastness as choir director, praise team leader, mentor, and spiritual warrior. She enjoyed praise, prayer and consistently engaging with church services, outreach, and prayer retreats. Her “prayer line” efforts and leadership blessed countless families, friends and those in need beyond measure.


Additionally, she continually served the local community with tireless efforts resulting in food, clothing, and shelter for anyone in need. She was a matriarch and shining example, but most importantly, she was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and caring friend. Her everlasting devotion and sacrifices will never be forgotten.


She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Derek Pulliam, Glenn Pulliam, Darcel Jackson, Leslie Pulliam, Wes Williams, and Shamoor Williams; sister, Loney Whatley; a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; as well as the entire Walker Nation and Mt. Zion All Nations Bible Church Family.


She was preceded in death by her son, Willie Pulliam, parents, Reuben and Mozell Walker; siblings: Lola Ellis, Beatrice Woods, Mamie Breedlove, Juanita Taylor, Dooney Walker, and Franklin Walker.
