Eva Berry

February 8, 1941 — March 21, 2012

The Lord looked down and saw His faithful servant was getting tired, so He said to her, Well done, come and take your rest.
On the evening of March 21, 2012, surrounded by family and friends, Eva Mae Berry at the tender age of 71 departed from this earth and took her place with her Heavenly Father. She was the eldest born of nine to the union of Lonnie Sr. and Ernestine Berry on February 8, 1941 in Tunica, Mississippi.
The family moved to Memphis, Tennessee by 1944 where Eva received her early education. In 1956 at the age of fifteen, she moved with her family to Bay City, Michigan and attended Central High School. After graduating, Eva earned her cosmetologist license and later became a Certified Nurses Assistant. Serving and helping others was one of her greatest qualities. Eva accepted Christ at an early age. Her faith and beliefs sustained her throughout her life. She was a member of Gethsamene Missionary Baptist Church in Bay City, Michigan under the leadership of Pastor Alfonzo Abner. Her interests included family, gardening, traveling and games. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother until she passed away at age 76.
Eva leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Robin (Victor Hunter) McClain; grandson, Braxton Hunter, Essexville, Michigan; four sisters, Alzelene King, Belinda Kelly, Pearl Evans all of Bay City, Michigan, Anita Carey, Las Vegas, Nevada; three brothers, James Berry, Lee Berry both of Bay City, Michigan, Connell (Michelle) Berry of Princeton, New Jersey; one goddaughter and two godsons, Doreen Lowe, Joseph Dawson both of Bay City, Michigan, Douglas Brooks, Detroit, Michigan; one aunt, Mary Carver, Chicago, Illinois; special niece and nephews, Shanae Evans, and Sontiago Berry of Bay City, Michigan, Sombray Evans, Hudsonville, Michigan; godbrother, Bobby Dawson; special daughter, Renee Stewart, Farmington Hills, Michigan, Beverly Archer, Waterford, Michigan, Donna Sullivan, Bay City, Michigan; special friends, Annie B. Davenport, Linda Stevens, Paul Carrradine, Linda Simpson and Wilhelmena Lowe all of Bay City, Michigan; special sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Clara Davis, Bay City, Michigan, Kathy Cork, Saginaw, Michigan, Cornelius King, Bay City, Michigan; many other special nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lonnie and Ernestine Berry, Sr., brother, Lonnie Berry, Jr., daughter, Veronica Berry, grandson, Anthony Berry, great-uncle Willie Jones.
