Mr. Evander Scott, Jr., known as "Roy," returned to his heavenly home on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the age of 50 years. He was born January 10, 1968 in Saginaw, Michigan to Evander Sr. and Betty Scott.
Evander Jr. was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan where he attended Saginaw Public Schools. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, “Class of 1986.” As a youth, Evander attended Ninth Street Mennonite Church where he was very active with the youth group. One of his favorite memories was the cross-cultural experiences in Pigeon, Michigan, where he learned about himself, other cultures, and God. During his senior year of high school, Evander started working for the Saginaw Board of Education as a custodian. He was also employed by Luther Manor prior to relocating to Atlanta, Georgia where he was employed by Winn Dixie Corporation. Evander resided in Atlanta approximately three years before returning home to Saginaw for the birth of his oldest daughter. Family was a priority to Evander; he always made time for family, and he enjoyed family gatherings. Evander loved his grandchildren who were all very dear to him, especially Ea’Moni, who affectionately called him “Papa Bear.” Evander was funny, outgoing, strong, and a fighter. His body suffered but he remained tough until the end. Evander’s firm belief in God, and his devotion to family, supported him in his fight and ultimately gave him peace in the end. He fought the good fight of faith, finished his race, and is now resting safe in the Master’s arms.
He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory his parents, Evander Sr. and Betty Scott; two daughters, Brittany Scott, Crystal Collins; three sons, Evander III and Evan Scott, Deon Johnson; four grandchildren, Ea’Moni, Masen, Evan Scott, Malaysia Reed; two sisters, Lucretia Cross, Charka; one brother, Eric Macon; four aunts, Violet (Sandy) Jackson, Gail Hysten, Geraldine Mason, and Elma Arthur; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Evander Jr. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Aaron Sr. and Rosalee Arthur, Mamie Bell; brother, Corey “Baldhead” Scott, and infant brother, Jody Scott.
The family extends special thanks to the physicians and nursing staff at St. Mary’s of Michigan-Saginaw and Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit Michigan.
