Ms. Evelyn Ruth Brown departed this earthly life on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Hoyt Nursing Home. Age 89 years. She was born May 8, 1926 in Cairo (Bessemer), Alabama to Emma Lawrence Miller and Dave Miller.
In 1969, Evelyn relocated to Saginaw, Michigan where she worked as a cook and a housekeeper. She was a member for many years at South 17th Church of Christ currently under the leadership of Brother Cedric Townsel. Evelyn lived a full and loving life and will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Mary Brown of Saginaw, Michigan; one son, Sherman (Lillie) Miller of Birmingham, Alabama; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren and twenty-two great-great grandchildren; one brother, Matthew Smith of Birmingham, Alabama; one sister, Bernice Poole of Cleveland, Ohio; a host of loving nieces and nephews including one special nephew, Anthony Fella Wiley; many other relatives and friends including one lifelong friend, Ms. Mamie Pickett.
Evelyn was preceded in death by two daughters, Juanita Cochran and Glenda Lemons, one brother, Robert Reeves and two sisters, Lottie Mae Bobo and Sarah Mae Wiley.
