Everly Deloris King

January 28, 1944 — November 3, 2023

Mrs. Everly "Nesta" King, 79, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, at her residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Everly was born January 28, 1944, in Jamaica to the late Edward Samuel and Syble Allen.


After graduating from nursing school, Everly moved to New York where she worked as a nurse. In 1979 she moved to Saginaw. After working 30 years at the VA Hospital as a nurse supervisor, Everly retired in 2009. She also worked for 10 years in the Activities Department at Luther Manor Nursing Home.


Everly enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, and traveling with friends and family. She loved being around children. When she got out of church a carload of children would be waiting in her car. They would spend weekends and have sleepovers at her home. Everly would take them with her on vacation to New York, Georgia, Ohio, Canada, and many places in Michigan. Everly accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of the Center Road Church of Christ.


Everly leaves to cherish her memory her husband, McKenzie King; two daughters, Jamie Lynn Roberts, and Tamika King; six sisters, Reva, Veronica “Peaches,” Elaine “Mabs,” Ingrid “June,” Vivette “ Vivia,” and Annette "Chumbs"; three brothers, Dudley Allen, Clive Thompson, and Gaston "Joe" Allen; twelve nieces, Sonia Forbes Allen, Verle Thompson, Sherrill Robinson-Wilson, Donna Mae Robinson, Paula Wright, Gail Wright, Phylicia Bryce, Karen, Yvonne, Herfa Donnette, and Marion Wiltshire, and Karen Slaton Johnson; eight nephews, Brian Craig Wright, Christopher Wright, Fabian Poplin, Cory Wright, Andrew, Keith, and Collin D. Allen, Wayne, Oral, and Kirk Wiltshire, Neville, and Christopher Wilson; one hundred twenty-five cousins, three sisters-in-law, Mary King, Irma King, and Anneace King; five brothers-in-law, Donald Robinson, Carlton Wright, Joseph King, Robert King, Zoltan Karacsony, and Fred King.


Everly was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Samuel and Syble Allen; grandparents, Sydney and Lillian Allen, and John and Rosabell Wesley; one brother, Trevor Allen; one sister-in-law, Alma Cooper; four brothers-in-law, Cornelius Wright, Isaac King, Julis King, and James King.


The family of Everly King wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all of you for your prayers, presence, love, telephone calls and all other expressions of concern that you have shown during our time of bereavement. Never more than now was your kindness needed and more appreciated. Special thanks to the Staff of Covenant Hospice Care.
