Ezekiel El-Amin (Lansing)

November 27, 2001 — June 26, 2021

Ezekiel Lee “Zeke” El-Amin, of Lansing, Michigan, was called home to glory suddenly on June 26, 2021. Age 19 years. Born to Isaac Alton El-Amin and Shanna Monique Sligh El-Amin on November 27, 2001, in Detroit, Michigan, Ezekiel was a 2020 graduate of Everett High School in Lansing, Michigan, and a faithful member of Trinity Church and Agape Christian Church in Lansing, Michigan.

Ezekiel, who was an amazing dancer, was always the life of any party. He danced with such a zest for life and freedom in expression that his joyous movements could fill an entire room. To see Ezekiel dance was really a thing of ceremonial beauty. Zeke was also an avid lover of sports as both a player and spectator. His gifted athleticism and sports IQ easily allowed him to excel in whatever sport he played. He was an awesome baseball player and golfer, having immensely enjoyed playing both since childhood. While Ezekiel left an endearing trail of memories, he will most be remembered for his huge heart – a heart that emanated an aura of love, light, peace, and goodness whether he was among family, friends, or complete strangers. Ezekiel was a lover of life and of people and was recently on a determined path to spread peace and love by writing, rappin and producing music to uplift and inspire others. Ezekiel chose for himself the moniker “Zeuchia The Great.” Zeuchia means peace and love.

Our beloved Ekeziel was a wonderful and compassionate young man whose beautiful smile and lovely spirit warmed the hearts of his family and friends. He was a bright light in our world, and we are deeply saddened by his untimely passing. Yes, our hearts are broken, but we take comfort in knowing that Ezekiel is safe in God’s arms. Ezekiel will be dearly missed by family and friends who loved and cherished him.

In addition to his loving parents, Isaac and Shanna El-Amin, Ezekiel is survived by two devoted brothers who dearly loved him, Zaire Xavier El-Amin (Ypsilanti, Michigan) and Isaac Noble El-Amin (Lansing, Michigan); grandfather, Alton (Patricia) El-Amin (Detroit, Michigan); one niece who he adored, Nyla SerenityRosé El-Amin (Indianapolis, Indiana); four great aunts, Jeanette Sligh (Auburn Hills, Michigan) who he affectionately revered as “Granny,” Daisy Alford (Dallas, Georgia), Susie Huffman (Ambridge, Pennsylvania), and Gloria J. El-Amin (Detroit, Michigan); five aunts, Beverley A. El-Amin (Detroit, Michigan), Tamara Flannigan (Bloomfield, Michigan) and LaRita Stewart, Saprina Smith, and Tyneisha Flannigan (all of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania); eight uncles, Stanley (Debbie) El-Amin (Canton, Michigan), Maurice (Shannon) El-Amin (Dearborn, Michigan), Emmanuel (Markeeta) El-Amin (Westland, Michigan), Zachary El-Amin (Detroit, Michigan), Stanley Sligh (Ambridge, Pennsylvania), Maurice Priest and Ahmad Flannigan (Aliquippa, Pennsylvania), and Gary Flannigan Jr.; a very special friend with whom he shared a loving bond, Jordyn Makaiya Patterson (Lansing, Michigan); and a host of cousins, including special cousins that he considered aunts and uncles, and numerous friends.

Ezekiel was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Oraleanna Sligh and Gary James Flannigan, Sr.; maternal great-grandparents, Benjamin Franklin and Ethel Lee Sligh; and paternal grandmother, Jennie V. El-Amin.
