Felecia Karen Johnson-Martin

Felecia Karen Johnson Martin passed away at home peacefully on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, Christmas morning, at the age of 59 years old. She had a beautiful spirit and leaves behind memories of warmth, laughter, wisdom and loving correction.

Felecia was born in Chicago, Illinois to Leoda Johnson and Gladys Johnson on June 24, 1959. She later moved to Saginaw, Michigan where she attended and graduated from Saginaw Public Schools. A woman of intense curiosity, Felecia was an avid reader and loved to exchange trivia and knowledge with others. Her love of knowledge also led her to studies at Purdue University and Saginaw Valley State University. Her hobbies included playing Scrabble, Candy Crush, watching reality television, traveling, Facebook and being a foodie.

Felecia loved people and was a social butterfly. She loved to pollinate others with her infectious joy and sense of humor. In addition, she had a sense of community, choosing to be involved. In the past she ran for the Saginaw Public School Board and for the Saginaw City Council. None of this could top her love for her family. She loved spending time with time with them. She extended this love outside of the house by volunteering at Jessie Loomis Elementary School for numerous years, including the time her children attended and when her grandchildren attended.

Felecia loved the Lord. She was a faithful member at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She loved her church and enjoyed attending weekly service as well as programs.

Felecia leaves to cherish her memory the love of her life, “Best Friend” for 39 years and husband for 35 years, Johnny Lee Martin, Sr.; three daughters, Chermese (DeAndre) Gibbs, Nia Martin, Saginaw, Michigan, Astin Martin, of Florida; three sons, Robert (Melanye) Johnson, Dominic (Mecha) Johnson, Sr., Johnny Martin, Jr., all of Saginaw; two brothers, Reginald (Denise) Johnson, Daron Johnson, Saginaw, Michigan; twelve grandchildren, Shoniesha Harris, Destiny Johnson, Desmond Hubbert, Cai’Dric Bell, Carmine Bell, Cy’Eirre Bell, Xavier Smith, Dominic Johnson-Martin, Jr., Da’Perria Johnson-Martin, Da’Perrius Johnson-Martin, D’Torrion Gibbs, Harlem Gibbs (Piglet) ; four great-grandchildren, Aubrie Johnson, Nevaeh Carpenter, Elijah Carpenter, and Raven Johnson; one uncle, Roy Conley; one aunt, Bertha Lee Butterfield ; three sisters-in-law, Irene Thomas, Julianna Williford, Saginaw, Michigan, Lorene Martin of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; special sister, Doristine Williams, Hammond, Indiana; two brothers-in-law, Jonathan Martin, Saginaw, Michigan and Ronnie Martin, Pine Bluff, Arkansas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Leoda Johnson and Gladys Lee Johnson; aunts, Estella Rowe, Dorothy McMillan, Katie Alexander, Eliza Conley (Pinky) and Emma Conley; uncle, Thomas Williams, Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Mose, Sr. and Irene Martin; sisters-in-law, Emma Crosby, Millie Martin, Verba Martin and Ledoris Martin; brothers-in-law, Mose Martin, Jr., Elijah Martin, Ceabon Martin and Robert Lee Thomas, Sr.
