Flora M. Smith passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at St. Marys of Michigan Medical Center. Age 81 years. She was born May 16, 1932 in Greenville, Mississippi to Edgar and Flora Donahue Sally.
Flora was a high school graduate who attended Delta College and went on to pursue and obtain a degree in Nursing from Saginaw School of Nursing. She was employed at Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital and Visiting Nurses Association as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She retired from the nursing profession after thirty years of faithful service. Flora was also a licensed cosmetologist as well. She will be truly missed by all who loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Phyllis Thorne, Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Tanya LaShawn Donahue, Jonesboro, Georgia, Sheverna Sheri (Carey) Butterfield, Bryant Earl (Bo) Miller and Quela Bond-Miller all of Saginaw, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Bryant Earl Miller II, Brianna Stringer, Jene Pruitt, Anthony Lee Ben, Brandon D. Miller, Brent E. Miller, Courtney J. Butterfield, Kennedy A. Butterfield, Tiara M. Pollard, Tarrence D. Crumpton and Charles E. Peterson III; two sisters, Beverly Lee McClaine-Madlock and Barbara Ann Longuemire; one brother, Bennie McClaine; very special nieces, Kim (Fred) Thigpen, Sidney and Keirsten, Dana McClaine, Monica Longuemire, Elizabeth Rodgers, Doris Haynes, Vicky Tyson-Dugan, Judy and Tammy Peoples, Rhonda and Crystal Donahue; very special nephews, Anthony (Veronica) Peoples, Derrick Peoples, Craig Donahue; two aunts, 103 year old Emma Davis-Voss and Arlena Davis-Ross; one uncle, J.B. Davis, Greenville, Mississippi; three very special cousins, Willie Flemming, Charles Donahue, Louise Donahue; one sister-in-law, Mamie King; many other relatives and friends including special friends,Billie Ruth Morris, Vera McMillon and Vertis Pippins-Smith .
Flora was preceded in death by her parents, Flora McClaine and Edgar Donahue Sr., stepfather, Benjamin McClaine, son, William Donahue Billy, brother, Edgar Donahue Jr., sister, Ruby Peoples, nephews, Tony Donahue and Terry Peoples.
The family wishes to express special thanks to St. Marys Medical Center Emergency Room and 6th floor ICU staff, Dr. Dora-Laskey and Staff and RN Fay Munsch. A very special thanks to Dr. Gary Brooks, a devoted, compassionate and dedicated physician. You really embodied the term Dr. Heart.
