Floyd Broadnax

January 22, 1941 — February 8, 2024

Mr. Floyd E. Broadnax Sr. was born on January 22, 1941, to Mable and Lawrence Broadnax. Mable later met and married Fred Clay Sr., Floyd’s bonus dad, whom he loved dearly.

He was raised in the church and accepted Christ at an early age, which continued throughout his adulthood. Although he was the eldest of 10 siblings, he was a "momma's" boy. As the oldest sibling, he was affectionately nicknamed ‘The Top.”

Floyd was educated in the Saginaw School District where he met his first wife, Alberta Moncrief, and from that union, they had 9 children. In 1967 he and his family moved to Los Angeles, California. and he began his career at 7-Up Bottling Company. He loved his job and remained a dedicated employee until his retirement after 30 years of service.

Floyd loved to bar-b-que, he would pull the BBQ pit out and cook for anyone around. Some of his other pastimes were fishing and going to the racetrack to bet on the horses. He was a sharp dresser and always looked his best. He loved his grandchildren and had a special bond with every one of them.

Later in life he met and married Mary Broadnax of Saginaw, Michigan where they spent their last years together as one. She loved him unconditionally until his homegoing.

Floyd leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Broadnax; children, Gregory, Linda, Floyd Jr., Sierra, Kevin Sr., Michael, Phillis, Kenneth Sr., and Tyler Sare; siblings, Alma Wyatt, Waddie (and her husband Leroy) Cook, Fred Clay Jr., Rev. Dr. Vernor Clay, Sherry Daniel Clay, Cynthia Ruth, and baby sister, Renee Clay affectionately nicknamed “The Bottom”; grandchildren, Jaren, Kennis, Tocarra, Khadijah, Floyd, Eboni, Asyah, Kevin Jr., Deciember, MyKeisha (Da-Great), Markasia, Kytana, Aquill, Orianna, Christiana, Ashley, Mykile (Tank), Anthony, Tarnajalae, Ratheim, Dioncee, Lukia, Asianae, Kenneth Jr., and Duney; great-grandchildren, Kaymar Jr., London, Sha’Miya, Ava, Logan, Brooklyn, Nyomi, Liam, Beautiful, Janiya, Damoni, Eric, Robert, Aubree, Noah, Karter, Jace, Braden, Kyra, Kasmir, Carsten, and Kiri. Paw-Paw we’re going to miss you, but the memories will last always.

He's headed home on that illustrious stairway to Heaven to meet up again with his mother, Mable, fathers, Lawrence and Fred Sr., daughter; Delsie Yarbrough, Katherine, and Constance; brothers, James and Gregory Clay, and other family members and friends he lost along the way.

Rest in Peace Floyd,
