Fredia Rena LaBee-Brooks departed this life on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at her residence. Age 52 years. She was born October 18, 1961 in Independence, Louisiana to Lillie Mae and Charlie Cooper.
Fredia accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Rock Zion Baptist Church in Natalbany, Louisiana under the leadership of Reverend David Carter. Fredia relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1972 where she became a member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R.B. Corley. She later joined Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor E.W. Bouthel. Fredia was a 1979 graduate of Saginaw High School. She attended Delta College for 2 years. Gone but never forgotten, her presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Tajuan LaBee of Seattle, Washington; her devoted parents, Charlie and Lillie Mae Cooper; one sister, Delores Smith of Florida; two brothers, Dedrick (Candice) LaBee of Amite, Louisiana and Rochelle Rudison of Fort Worth, Texas; seven aunts, Hilda (Lawrence) Ruffin Sr. of Saginaw, Michigan, Maxine (Josh) Chapple of Birmingham, Alabama, Corean Wright and Dorothy Wells, both of Hammond, Louisiana, Rebecca Washington of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mildred Cage and Ella Mae Brown, both of Georgia; two uncles, Robert (Gloria) Hughes and Arthur (Lois) Hughes, both of Saginaw, Michigan; two sisters-in-law, Barbara LaBee and Mable Woods, both of Louisiana; her godmother, Mary Ann Thomas of Osceola, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many other relatives and friends including her special friends, Robbie Overstreet and Travis Prince.
Fredia was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Brooks, one sister, Catherine Marie LaBee, one brother, Robert LaBee and her grandparents.
The wishes to express special thanks to the Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ family, Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
