Gail R. Carr-Henix

Gail R. Carr-Henix was born July 22, 1967, in Houston, Texas, to Sam and Mary Carr. She returned home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the age of 56 years.

Gail was a compassionate and well-loved CAC Head Start teacher’s aide, school bus aide, home health aide (Plainview), and the best hair braider in town!

She was a devout lover of God and a woman of prayer. During her life, she worshipped with Messiah Missionary Baptist Church and New Beginnings Church. In her spare time, Gail loved to sing, dance, go to the park, show off her superior double-dutch skills, and spend time with her family.

She leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories her loving husband, Alvin Henix Jr.; son, Henry Carr; daughter, LaToya Marlow; and mother, Mary Carr; stepchildren, Lashonda (Jeff) Hamilton, Tenisha Maynard, Marcus Henix, and Alvin Henix III; auntie, Virginia (Robert) Gardner; sisters, Maryann Carr, Virginia Marlow, Sandra (Danny) Buriel, Narcissi (Benjamin) Haynes, and Sammetra Carr; brothers, Sammy Carr, George (Ada) Carr, and Robert Carr; brothers-in-law, Willie Battle, Melvin Henix, Robert Henix, Terry (Tasha) Henix; father-in-law, Alvin Henix Sr.; grandchildren, Sh’Nya Whittington Carr, Sariyah Akins, Ryiannah Akins, Deontray Goines; fifteen stepchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; special friends, Aaricka, Tangua, Sandra, Rochelle, and Ressie; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Gail was preceded in death by her grandmother, Annie Irene (Junior) Sheppard; father, Sam Carr; and nephew, William Marlow Jr.
