G. D. Davis passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 at St. Marys of Michigan. Age 60 years. He was born April 2, 1952 in Hurtsboro, Alabama to Johnson and Lucy Davis.
G.D. attended school in Hurtsboro, Alabama before becoming a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. He accepted Christ at an early age in life. He was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dale Tatum. He loved God and his family and faithfully served the church for many years. He was a member of the Usher Board, participated in worship service and served as a worship leader. He was always eager to lift his voice in prayer and thanksgiving to God. He retired from Grey Iron Central Foundry after 34 years of service. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Deborah Anne Davis; two sons, Doug Cobb, Columbus, Georgia, Davien Davis, Saginaw, Michigan; three Daughters, Hope Davis, Saginaw, Michigan, Sandra Cobb, Cynthia (Andrea) Rutledge, both Columbus, Georgia; two stepchildren, DeAngela Baker (Johnny), St. Mt. Georgia, Bryant Brown, Saginaw, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren; four sisters, Ethel Thomas, Orlando, Florida, Icy Mae Walker, Mamie L. Davis, both of Hurtsboro, Alabama, Sardester Marshall, Saginaw, Michigan; three brothers, Johnson (Delories) Davis, Saginaw, Michigan, L.A. (Evelyn) Davis, Johnnie Mack Davis, both of Hurtsboro, Alabama; special nephews, Oscar Marshall, Corielle Johnson, Breontae Davis and Johnson Davis; mother-in-law, Amanda Wade Cashaw; sisters-in-law, Terri Johnson, Rhonda Johnson both of Atlanta Georgia, Tiffany (Akili) Dolley, Jackson, Michigan, Catherine Davis, Hurtsboro, Alabama; brother-in-law, Reverend Troy A. (Charlene) Johnson, St. Paul, Minnesota; three uncles, Howard Davis, Jimmy Davis, Eddie Lee Jackson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends too numerous to name.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Johnson and Lucy Mae Davis; five Siblings, Bertha Hill, Nathan Davis, Addie Ree Chambliss, Lucile Thornton, Johnnie Mae Johnson; one sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Davis and one nephew Nathaniel Webb.
