Georgia Ann Carson, affectionately known as “Biddy”, was born on April 18, 1943, to William and Ezell Rider in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She departed this life on March 23, 2021, at Sparrow Health Systems. Age 77 years.
Georgia relocated to Lansing, Michigan in 1971. She was the first African American secretary in the Lansing School District. Georgia first worked at Walter French Junior High School, later transferred to Dwight Rich Middle School, and retired in 2004.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Prince of Peace Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and served on the Usher Board. She loved working with kids and was the secretary/administrative assistant for the Capital City Track Club for many years. She was also a member of the Capitol City Temple #308.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to her. She loved sitting in her living room in her favorite chair solving puzzles (which her niece Dakarla Robertson made sure she had a supply on hand), watching game shows and soap operas. She enjoyed cooking and hosting the family gatherings for the holidays. Her personality, smile, and laughter were contagious to everyone she met. She will be remembered by her readiness to say what is on her mind with a touch of love. To know her was to love her!
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Henry, Adolph (Cathy), Kenneth, Sharon (Garry), Aaron, and Bryne; brother, William Rider; sister, Ida Mae Rider; grandchildren, Henry, Jr., Odessa, Jade, Garry Jr, TaSharry, Samuel, Tiarrie, Breanna, Ca'Laiyah, Talisha, and Marcus; great-grandchildren, Natalie, A’mon, Emonii, Jeremiah, Ryleigh, Troy, Tylan, Taliah, and Tamiyah, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lizzie Potts, Victoria Kline, and brother, Robert Rider.
