Mrs. Georgia Lee Jackson (Doll), our beloved mother went home to be with the Lord following a short illness on Monday, July 25, 2011 at St. Mary's of Michigan. Age 72 years. She was born September 11, 1938 in Metcalfe, Mississippi to Clark and Georgia Washington. She married Raymond Jackson Jr. in 1956, he preceded her in death in 1984.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church for nearly 40 years where she served faithfully as past President of the Mission Department, she was also a member of the Mothers Board and the Kitchen Committee. Georgia retired from Saginaw County Child Development (Head Start) in 2004 after 35 years of service. She later worked for First Ward Community Center as an Assistant Cook under the leadership of Sheilda Braddock. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching game shows, reading her bible and spending time with her grandchildren.
Georgia leaves to cherish her memories her children, Charlie Washington, Deborah Jackson, Ronald (Sandra) Jackson, Beverly Jackson, Tommie (Deborah) Jackson, Lavel (Angie) Jackson, Samuel Jackson, Roosevelt (Marie) Jackson, Zenobia Jackson; three stepchildren, Geraldine Jackson, Raymond Jackson III, Roberta Jackson; thirty-two grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; one sister, Arma Jean Washington; one brother, Eddie Washington; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including life long friend, Ruby Dent, special friends, Charles (Charlie) Sledge, Pat Gill and Janice Foster.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Jackson Jr.; parents, Clark and Georgia Washington; sisters, Nellie Miles, Isabelle Rose, Creasy and Josephine Washington; brothers, Jonathan, Flinoid (Chene), Roscoe, Ross and Tyler Washington; a dear sister in Christ, Mother Willie M. Merkerson.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. James Hines and the staff of the ICU at St. Mary's of Michigan, Mr. Ivan E. Phillips and staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
