Gerald Kelley (Lansing)

Our beloved, Gerald Kelley entered eternal life on April 27, 2021, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 63 years old. He was born September 17, 1957, to Waymon and Gladys Kelley in Columbus, Georgia.

His passion and skills in track earned him many awards from J.W. Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan where he attended and graduated from. He attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee from 1975-1977 before transferring to Washtenaw Community College. He earned his Associates in Data Processing and went on to have a successful career in that field.

In 1981, he married Mary Davenport and this union was blessed with two children. Gerald took pride in his children’s educational and professional achievements. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and their achievements and enjoyed listening to all their stories. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle.

He leaves to forever treasure his memory 3 children; LaMont’a (Shaunda) Mitchell of Lansing, Michigan, Tambra (Jamaal) Hinton of Southfield, Michigan, and Ashley Kelley of Farmington, Hills, Michigan; 4 grandchildren, Eric Thompson, Payton Holmes, Hannah Whatley, and Miara Alexander; mother, Gladys Kelley of Lansing, Michigan; sisters, Brenda Kelley of Lansing, Michigan and Deborah Gray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friend, Jokay Maxie.

He is proceeded in death by his father, Waymon Kelley; brother, Waymon Kelley, Jr.; nephew, Antonio Kelley, and niece, Aisha Gray.
