Geraldine Laws (Lansing)

Mother Geraldine Laws was born February 2, 1930 in Durham, North Carolina to Early and Nebraska Laws. She departed this life Tuesday, September 26, 2016 in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 87 years.

Mother Laws became a member of the Paradise Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Herman Green. She was a faithful member of the Mother’s Board and Nursing Guild until her health prevented her from serving. Mother Laws was a graduate of Michigan State University, MSU Alumni Association Lifetime Member and NAACP, Lansing Branch Gold Lifetime Member. During her professional career, she worked as an X-ray technician, registered nurse and eventually retired from the State of Michigan Department of Human Services. Mother Laws truly enjoyed helping others.

She leaves to cherish her memories three nephews, Harold (Cheryl) Timberlake, Saginaw, Michigan, Christopher (Kathy) Timberlake, Lauderdale By-The-Sea, Florida and Dennie Timberlake, Durham, North Carolina; three nieces, Charlotte (Earl) Heyliger, Fayetteville, North Carolina, Linda Timberlake and Varetta Timberlake, both of Durham, North Carolina; foster daughter, JoAnn Doby-Waters and foster son, Ben Williams, both of Lansing, Michigan; several great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, her Paradise Church Family and friends including one very special lifetime friend, Ms. Mary Morton of Lansing, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Early and Nebraska Laws; sister, Ruth Timberlake and Brother In-Law, Dr. Harold L.Timberlake, Sr.

In lieu of flowers, the Family of Mother Geraldine Laws request that contributions be given to the Paradise Missionary Baptist Church Scholarship Fund.
