Geri A. Gilyard-Morris

Mrs. Geri Gilyard-Morris was born November 4, 1965 in Saginaw, Michigan to Neely Jones and Earlene Price. She passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Age 53 years.

Born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, Geri was a member of New Covenant Church while growing up. She later moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. She worked at Walgreens for many years while attending school, studying to become a Pharmacy Technician. She completed her degree and then began working for Meijer Pharmacy.

Geri moved back to Saginaw and joined Word of Faith International Ministries. It was during this time that she was baptized. She loved God and she loved her children. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning. But more than anything she enjoyed being a grandmother and coloring with her grandkids. Geri’s beautiful and smile and spirit will truly be missed.

Geri was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Morris; son, Jason Chapman; parents, Neely Jones and Earlene Price.

She leaves precious memories with her daughter, Courdney Chapman; son, Jayvon Chapman; grandchildren, Jayla, Chenelle, Ky’Aire, Jurnee, Jasiah, Nia, Casey; sisters, Gogi (Tyrone Sr.) West, Greta (Ernest) Jones, Pila Jones; brothers, Glenn Brown, Greg Gilyard, James Gross; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special cousin and friend, Martha Lynn Ducre.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Byron and Minister Chestermae Hayes and the Word of Faith International Ministries Church Family for all the prayers, calls and love shown to our family during the loss of Geri Gilyard-Morris. Thank you.
