Gloria Jean Haynes affectionately known as Mama Jean, departed this life from earth to heaven suddenly on May 5, 2013 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware. Age 55 years. She was born June 21, 1957 in Rosedale, Mississippi to Walter and Annie Haynes.
Gloria accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Burt, Michigan under the leadership of the late Pastor Willie McMillon Sr. She was a graduate of Saginaw High School class of 1975. Gloria furthered her education by obtaining a degree in Business Management from Delta College. Jean relocated to Patterson, New Jersey in 2009 where she was employed as a Residential Counselor for the Patterson Task Force until the time of her death. She loved spending time with family and working with people. Gloria enjoyed reading and surfing the internet. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Torvell, Cory and Maurice; her parents, Walter and Annie Haynes; one god-daughter, Krystal of Phoenix, Arizona; nineteen grandchildren including Shanell, Torvell Jr., Trudell, Cory Jr. and Kayla Haynes, all whom she helped raise; two brothers, James (Torsha) Haynes of Dallas, Texas, Lamar Haynes; nine sisters, Lana Stokes, Patterson, New Jersey, Shedrick Faulk, Rochester Hills, Michigan, Vivian Brewer, Phoenix, Arizona, Yvonne Sanders, Patricia McCully, Johnnie Mae Jackson and Carolyn Riley, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Jackie Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia, Faye Clark of Kent, Ohio; six aunts and six uncles; several nieces, nephews and cousins including a special niece, Latasha Toney; many other relatives and close friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lula and Harrison Haynes Jr., J.W. and Loda Hudson; six uncles; one aunt; one nephew, Gregory Haynes; her best friend, Juanita Stringer.
