Gloria "Penny" West

In Precious Memory of: Ms. Gloria Jean "Penny" West.

Gloria, a Christian, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend departed this earth to her heavenly home on October 3, 2021 at the age of 67 years. She was born March 6, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Georgia (JT) Ervin and Robert Davis.

Gloria who was affectionately known as PENNY had a heart of gold and a contagious smile that would light any room. She was a loving and devoted mother to not just her children but also to many godchildren.

Gloria was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Burt, Michigan where Pastor Albert Haynes presides. She graduated from Chesaning high school in 1972. She began studying nursing at Delta College after high school. She later decided to embark on a new career opportunity at General Motors Chevrolet Grey Iron and Delphi. She was a dedicated committee member and served on multiple committees. She retired from General Motors U.A.W local 699 in 2001.

Gloria enjoyed cooking, entertaining, family gatherings, casino, shopping, sports, traveling, any card game, and ALL things in the color pink. She met and kept a host of friends who would always become family.

Gloria was known for being polite, kind, giving, an excellent cook, and for addressing people she cherished by the name "Sweetie". She never met a stranger, because if you were that would change after the first hello. She opened her heart and home to many.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Lanette (Cory) Maxwell and Lakisha (Walter) West, one son: Jeremiah West. Two very special bonus children: Robert Scott and Monique Hightower. Two grandchildren: Cory and Nicholas Maxwell. Sisters: Gloriastine Johnson, Eunice "Fae" Ervin, Alberta Miller, Rose Miller, Tammy (Pastor Ernest) Reed, Geraldine Jordan, Mary Bell Jordan, Michelle Harmon, Georgia Hemphill. Brothers: Willie (Felita) Ervin, JT (Shirley) Ervin, Luamark Miller. Most cherished aunts: Clotee (Ronald) Fuller and Azalene Stephenson. Special nieces and nephews: Alexis Pinkston, Ahmad Ervin, Gwendolyn Ervin, Takia Ervin, Michael Smith, John Smith, Jermaine Miller, Andrea Jordan, Taqiyyak Smith, Kelvin Davis, Anthony Davis. Very special nieces and nephews Robert Scott, III, Alexandria Scott Trencye Beard. Special cousins: Geraldine Palmore, Ricardo West, Valerie McClain. Special friends: Paul Fairley, William Harrison, Linda Smith, Kathy Cork, Johnnie Baskin, Evalene Hodge, Toni Huerta, Jonita Reeves. Many other loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Georgia Ervin, Robert Davis, JT Ervin. Sisters, Linda Hightower and Janice Goard. Brothers Bruce West and Joseph Ervin.
