Gracie Alexander

August 24, 1948 — June 4, 2019

Mrs. Gracie Mae (Pegues) Alexander was born August 24, 1948 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Wesley Earl and Rosie Lee (Hull) Pegues. She returned home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the age of 70 years.

Gracie married Frederick Alexander on March 31, 1972 and to this union two children were born. She worked for TV5 for forty-two years before retiring. Gracie was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Luke C.M.E. Church for over forty years where she served as the Children’s Choir Director, on the Stewardess Board, in the Senior Choir and as the Recording Steward. She also attended Sunday School and made the pancakes for breakfast.

Gracie was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was a woman that valued family and relationships. She loved her children and enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. Her beautiful smile, sweet spirit and warm embraces will be missed. We have not lost her because we know where she is, and that is resting in the arms of her Savior.

Gracie was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Earl and Rosie Lee Pegues; sister, Elsie Jean Pegues Mason; brother, Roosevelt Pegues; nieces, Regina Lewis and Tanjanika Taylor.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Rose (Lance) Howard; son, Frederick C. (Tekela) Alexander; grandchildren, Matthew L. McQueen III, Tyree W. Alexander, Terran P. Alexander, Gabriella L. Howard, Failyn M. Alexander; sister, Frances (James) Lewis; brother, Earl (Eddie) Pegues; nieces, Shea Pegues, Brenda Thomas, Georgette (Dr. Ron) Frierson, Ruby Ann Jones, Rev. M.
