Gregory Hunt, Sr. (Lansing)

Gregory Lamar Hunt, Sr. (Shady Grady) was born November 20, 1968, in Lansing, Michigan.

He is the first sibling born to Krystle Moore and Otis Bowers, Sr. He is preceded in death by his father, Otis Bowers, Sr., his special father James Edward Hart, Sr., his Grandmother Rosie Lee Jackson, his grandfather Frank Canal Hunt, Sr., and his brother Tametrics Juvandos Simmons.

He accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Paul W. Garrett, Sr., in Lansing, Michigan.

In 1983 he met the love of his life, Alethia Thomas whom he remained with until the time of his death.

He is an alumnus of J. W. Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan, where he played basketball.

Greg had a heart of gold, and his most special hobby was cooking and an excellent one he was. If you threw a party, he was the life of it and he would be first on the dance floor and would dance all night. Greg was funny and humorous. He loved to host gatherings and his specialty was old school cars.

God called Greg from his earthly release and into peaceful rest on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

He leaves to cherish his memory, Alethia Thomas of Lansing, Michigan; his parents Krystle (Ulysses) Moore of Shreveport, Louisiana; his four children, Gregory Hunt, Jr. (Gloria), Shardae Silva (Dontae), Robert “Bobby” Peacock and Avion Gullery; eight siblings: his brothers, Fred Hunt (Julie), Shaun Moore, Terrell Simmons, Juan Simmons, Otis Bowers (Delise), Christian Benn (Elisha); his sisters, Gwen Hart Howard (Jeffrey TJ) and Nasha Mitchell; eight grandchildren: Celvin, Mark, Gabriel, Maiyah, Xavier, Gyzelle, Ariana, De’Mari, and Tae’Von; a special friend Freddie Fields; a special cousin Tiffany Jackson and a host of nephews and a niece whom he loved.

Greg was known by “Shady Grady” by these special friends: Andrew Jackson “Popeye”, Ramon Jackson, Cleveland Wells, Bruce Grace, John “Junebug” Grace, Kim Charles, Joe Lewis, Tim Whitehead, Eddie Trice, Lawrence Williams, Jeff England, and so many more.

He will be missed by family and friends…We thank God for the time we had with him. Rest in Peace. We love you!
